The FREPA framework of reference is a key to implementing pluralistic approaches to culture and language within classrooms. It has been designed by FREPA in association with the ECML “Learning through languages” programme.
It is designed for teachers of all subject areas that have an interest in pluralingual and intercultural education, as well as teacher trainers, decision makers, and curriculum and programme designers.
The framework itself presents a comprehensive list of descriptors covering knowledge, skills and attitudes, all of which are considered necessary within the perspective of pluralingual & intercultural education.
FREPA/CARAP-projektissa suunniteltu viitekehys ja siihen liittyvät oppimateriaalit täydentävät mm. kielten oppimisen, opetuksen ja arvoinnin yleiseurooppalaista viitekehystä (CEFR) ja Eurooppalaista kielisalkkua (ELP). FREPA/CARAP −viitekehys on kuitenkin jo itsessään monipuolinen, neljään eri lähestymistapaan perustuva, mikä tekee siitä mielenkiintoisen, kattavan ja ennen kaikkea eri opettajien –ei vain kieltenopettajien– opetusta uudistamaan haastavan kokonaisuuden.
Lähestymistavat ovat
1. tietoisuus kielellisestä monimuotoisuudesta
2. sukulaiskielten välisten yhteyksien ymmärtäminen
3. interkulttuurinen osaaminen
4. eri kielten (oppimisen) samankaltaisuuksia korostava didaktiikka
